Care & ritual guide
Preserve the beauty, craftsmanship, and magic of your handmade pieces. Explore our practical care advice and ritual practices to keep your wares working harmoniously within your sacred space.

Nurturing hand turned wood & artisanal candles
Every wooden piece, from hand turned pens and seam rippers to wooden bowls, deserves mindful care. Protect wood from prolonged direct sunlight and severe temperature changes. For wood bowls and tableware, condition regularly with mineral oil and never soak them in water. Use mineral oil or beeswax periodically on other wood items to maintain their warm luster.
For hand poured candles, always trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each lighting. Keep lit flames well away from drafts, curtains, pets, and children, and avoid storing wax items near high heat or in direct sunlight.

Cleansing & activating intention wares
Intention-based creations like spell jars, jewelry, and witch balls should be cleansed upon arrival using your preferred ritual practice, such as herbal smoke, incense, breath, or sea salt. Set your personal intention into the piece as you welcome it home.
Place spell jars intentionally: keep restful sleep blends by your bedside and tuck protection jars near doorways or windows. For witch balls, display them where you spend the most time, such as your living room or kitchen. To maintain their potency, recharge spell jars, jewelry, and witch balls overnight on your windowsill beneath each full moon.

Placing ritual brooms & botanical blends
Handcrafted altar brooms serve both practical energetic cleansing in your ritual work and graceful aesthetic appeal on your sacred altar. Larger bespoke witch brooms can be hung proudly above your front or back door, or placed standing beside an entryway to protect your threshold.
Keep simmer pot blends and loose incense fresh by storing them in a cool, dry pantry or cabinet. Once your space is arranged, we would love to see your sanctuary—tag Beyond the Broom on social media to share your altar and home styling with our magical community.
